About
Barbara LeDoux Levesque is a painter drawn to the unseen, the mystical, and the shadowy edges of the human experience. Her current work explores Southern Gothic themes and magical realism with bright colors, often featuring recurring symbols like alligators, dense bayous, and imagined landscapes that bridge the real and the otherworldly.
Originally from New Orleans, Barbara’s visual language is rooted in the rich textures of southern Louisiana — from the piney woods of Alexandria where she spent time with her grandparents, to the deep cultural layers of the Crescent City. Her paintings channel energy, intuition, and a deep curiosity about the imaginal realm — the subtle space between the visible and invisible.
Painting began as an instinct — a necessary act after the birth of her first son — with no formal training, just a canvas, paint, and the urge to create. She hasn’t looked back since. Her debut show marks the beginning of a new chapter: a full embrace of the artist’s life.
